A building is only as level as what it sits on. This is also the single most common reason a delivery cannot be completed on the day.
The most common choice and usually the best value. Compacted crushed stone, four to six inches deep, extending at least a foot beyond the footprint on every side. It drains, it can be levelled accurately, and it does not crack.
Workable for smaller buildings on reasonably level ground. Blocks must sit on firm, undisturbed soil, not on topsoil or fill.
The most expensive and the most permanent. Worth it for garages, workshops and anything with vehicle traffic. Note that a permanent foundation can change how your county assesses the structure for tax.
Match the base to the footprint on the product page, not to the roof overhang. A 10x16 building needs a 10x16 base at minimum, and a little larger is better than a little smaller.
Measure the narrowest point on the route in: gate posts, tree branches, the gap between the house and the fence. Soft ground after rain stops more deliveries than tight gates do. If you are unsure, tell us before you order rather than on the day.
